Don’t Let Motherhood make you lose your MIND(fulness)
One of the most nourishing things you can do to protect your peace and presence in motherhood is to create simple rhythms that help you slow down—just a little—each day.
One rhythm I absolutely love is afternoon tea-time.
There’s something so grounding about the ritual of making a cup of tea and truly savouring it. Whether it’s a takeaway from your favourite café or a brew made at home, give yourself permission to pause. Even just five minutes can make a world of difference.
Sit. Be still.
Read a few pages of a book or flip through a magazine you love.
Or simply tune into your surroundings—the breeze, the sounds, the quiet.
Take your shoes off, if you can. Ground yourself. Nourish and nurture, one sip at a time.
There are so many lovely options to enjoy—coffee, peppermint tea, a classic English brew… but my personal favourite is a chai tea brewed gently on almond milk, sweetened with coconut sugar and honey. I try to enjoy it without interruption (which, with three kids and a toddler, is a whole adventure in itself—but I try).
My Nourishing Brewed Chai Recipe
To make a beautifully nourishing chai:
Add 1 tsp of chai per person into a saucepan or chai pot
Add 1 cup of milk per person (I use almond milk)
Warm gently—stirring now and then—but don’t let it boil
Add 1 tsp of coconut sugar per person
In each mug, add 1 tsp of honey
Strain the chai into each mug, pouring it over the honey, and stir to combine
Then—sit down, take a breath, and enjoy each sip as best you can in the season you’re in, beautiful mama.
My Favourite Chai
If you love a good chai, Blissful Chai by Blissful Herbs is the most delicious blend I’ve found yet. (Not sponsored—just sharing something I love!)
Known for her beautiful birthing teas, Blissful Herbs makes this particular chai with a warming, balanced blend of:
Caraway, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger, Nutmeg, Star Anise, Sweet Orange Peel, Lemon Zest, Chilli
either Black Tea or Rooibos (I always choose rooibos so the kids can enjoy it with me too—just let them know your preference at checkout).
Let me know if you try this rhythm for yourself—it might just become one of your favourite moments of the day.
